New Lower Price on Faux Wood Blinds
One of the most popular items we sell is our budget faux wood blinds. Obviously, price is a factor but I think the main reason we get so much repeat business on these blinds is because there is nothing “budget” about the quality. These are high quality faux wood blinds available in four different color choices. Like most of our custom products, they come with a limited lifetime warranty. Because of their popularity and our continued commitment to give the best deals possible we are proud to announce a price reduction of 10 – 18% across the board for these blinds.

Your Guide to Shade and Blind Terms
Sometimes the jargon used in the window covering business can be confusing. Here is a guide to terms you might see on our site.
Allowance: A slight variation from the exact measurements of the window, usually decreasing them slightly.
Aluminum Blinds: Horizontal aluminum blinds. Also called “mini blinds.”
Arch Shade: A curved shade used to fit over a shaped (usually curved) window.
Basswood: A hardwood from a bass tree, typically grown in North America or China. Basswood is a high quality wood due to its resistance to warping.
Blackout: The highest level of light control. A blackout shade typically blocks 90% or more of light. The term blackout can be applied to either a shade or a shade liner.
Bottom Rail: The bottom-most slat on a horizontal blind. Bottom rails are usually color-coordinated to match the rest of the window covering. The bottom rail weighs the window covering down and keeps it hanging straight.
Brackets: Installation parts that are mounted on the window frame or wall used to attach and install the headrail of a window treatment.
Cellular: The term cellular describes each visible side pocket on a honeycomb shade. A honeycomb shade is a more energy efficient version of a pleated shade. The shade is formed of hexagonal cells placed side-to-side. Cellular shaded can also be combined into layers called double or triple cells.
Ceiling Mount: A product is mounted to the ceiling, or top of the window.
Clearance: The depth available for inside mounting your window treatment.
Cloth Tape: Choose patterned or solid cloth tapes to add a decorative accent to your blinds. Cloth tapes also increase privacy and light control by covering route holes.
Controls: Horizontal blinds normally have two control mechanisms. One raises and lowers the blind, and the second tilts the angle of the horizontal slats.
Cord Cleat: A small plastic or metal anchor that attaches to your wall and holds excess cord.
Cordless: This popular option provides a hidden control system that eliminates the lift cord and enables the shade or blind to be easily raised or lowered by lifting or pulling the bottom rail.
Cutout: A cutout is used when there is an obstacle such as a doorknob or crank handle for opening the window. The cutout will allow your window blind to cover the window, yet provide an opening for the obstacle.
Day Night Shade: A shade that has both a light filtering section and a blackout section.
Depth: The distance from the front of edge of a window to the back, or pane of glass. This is the mounting space within the window.
Double Cell: A type of cellular shade construction that offers increased insulation by using two layers of cellular fabric.
Edge Binding: Solid and decorative edge bindings give natural roman shades and panel tracks a more tailored finish that accent.
End Cap: End caps are used to cover the ends of the bottom rail of horizontal blinds. The end caps are color coordinated to match the color of the blinds.
Extension Brackets: Extension Brackets are metal pieces that are used in installing blinds that need to be extended out over the sill (usually over 1/2″). These are only needed for outside mounts.
Factory Deduction: The factory automatically trims off a certain amount of an inside-mount blind or shade to ensure that it will fit. The amount taken off varies depending on the product.
Faux Wood: A PVC or composite material that can be used in place of wood for horizontal blinds. Generally less expensive than real wood.
Flush Mount: Depth required to mount blind so that it is fully recessed inside the window frame and no portion of the blind protrudes from the window frame.
Headrail: The top of a shade or blind that holds the components for operation.
Height: The distance from the top to the bottom of the window. Can include the window frame or not, depending on whether it is inside mount or outside mount.
Hold Down Brackets: Hold down brackets are most often used with a horizontal blind that you will likely not raise or lower, but will tilt the slats only.
Honeycomb Shade: A style of pleated, fabric shades comprised of honeycomb-shaded cells.
Horizontal Blind: A blind in which the slats run horizontally, rather than vertically, and can be tilted and lifted.
Inside Mount: An Inside Mount fits within your window frame. It is a sleeker and normally the preferred way to install your window coverings, as long as you have enough depth. It’s normally better to use an Inside Mount even if your product is not flush with the front of your window (i.e. it sticks out into your room).
Lift Cord: The cord that raises and lowers the blind.
Light Filtering: A shade that allows light in while the product is fully lowered. The more opaque a fabric is, the less light will be filtered into the room. Darker-colored fabrics will filter out more light than lighter-colored fabrics.
Liner: A cloth layer that is added to the back of shades to provide additional light control or privacy.
Mini-Blinds: Another term for plastic or aluminum horizontal blinds.
Minimum Depth: Depth required to mount blind inside the window frame.
Mounting Bracket: Plastic or metal devices that are used to attach your product to the wall, window frame, or molding.
Outside Mount: A point of measurement, typically the outer edge of the beveled trim of a window.
Pleated Shades: Similar to honeycomb shades, these are made of fabric with evenly spaced horizontal pleats. Vertical cords can be seen running through them. They are a less expensive alternative to honeycomb shades.
Roman Shade: A type of shade that uses fabric or woven wood material.
Room Darkening: A room darkening shade will block out 60% or more of light. More than light filtering, less than blackout.
Slats: The strips of wood, fauxwood, PVC, etc, that make up the blind.
Tilt: The control, usually a cord or a wand, that tilts the slats of a blind open and closed.
Top Down/Bottom Up: A versatile shade option that opens from the top down and from the bottom up. Uses a set of lift cords to open either from the top down or from the bottom up, or both at the same time.
Valance: his covers the headrail from the outside, and generally matches the color of the blinds. Valances can be made of wood, fauxwood, or vinyl.
Wand: A long plastic cylinder that you twist.
Width: The horizontal measurement of your blind, taken to the nearest 1/8 of an inch.
Woven Wood: Usually refers to bamboo roman shades.
Day/Night Shades – Trim to Fit

New Inventory
We have been getting some questions on when we would be increasing our inventory on some of our ready-made sizes. We got a semi-load of shades in last week. Shades that have had their inventory updated include Fabric Roman Shades, Top Down/Bottom Up Cellular Shades and Thermal Roman Shades.
We will be adding more next week including some brand new shades. As always, if you don’t see your size, let us know. Many of our cellular shades, faux wood blinds and day night shades can be custom cut.
Graber Day Night Shade
With our day and night shade it’s like getting two in one! Using two different fabrics this will gently diffuse light through the day and have absolute privacy when needed. Both layers extend the full length so you control the amount of light that comes into the room. Check out our modern window coverings and privacy blinds.
